I don't agree that schools should do away with grades. Grades tend to serve as motivation to students as well as an assessment of the growth and progress of students. Students would not be able to evaluate their understanding of subjects, this could lead to added pressure as they would not be able to monitor their understanding. My outlook on this topic is that instead of discarding grades we could make adjustments to the grading system. For example, the amount of the class grade based on test vs. homework/projects.
